CVS Health has named Brian Kane head of its Aetna health insurance division, the company announced Monday.

Kane will assume the roles of executive vice president at CVS Health and president of Aetna Sept. 1. He replaces Dan Finke, who is stepping down for health reasons. Finke will support the company during the transition.

CVS Health did not immediately respond to an interview request.

Kane most recently served as a consultant to several private equity firms focused on healthcare services, according to CVS Health.

He left the role of chief financial officer at Humana in 2021. In addition to heading the finances of the insurance company, Kane oversaw the development of Humana’s CenterWell primary care clinics. Kane also spent 17 years working in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs.

The executive change follows the completion of CVS Health’s $8 billion purchase of the home health assessment provider Signify Health last month. Oak Street Health shareholders will also vote on whether to approve CVS Health’s proposed $10.6 billion acquisition of the primary care provider next week.

Correction: An earlier version of the piece misidentified Dan Finke’s first name.
