Specialists are healthcare providers with extra training and expertise in specific areas of medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a quick guide to some common specialties and what they treat:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allergist\/Immunologists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Allergies and other immune conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cardiologists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dermatologists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Skin issues, ranging from rashes and hives to psoriasis and skin cancer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Endocrinologists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Disorders related to the endocrine system, which uses hormones to control and coordinate growth, metabolism and reproduction. Some endocrine-related conditions include diabetes, thyroid diseases, infertility, metabolic disorders, osteoporosis and certain cancers. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Gastroenterologists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Neurologists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Disorders of the nervous system, which includes the brain as well as the spinal cord and nerves. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Obstetricians\/Gynecologists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Women\u2019s healthcare. Obstetrics is the field of medicine related to pregnancy and childbirth. Gynecology is the field of medicine focusing on women\u2019s health and reproductive care, including perimenopause and postmenopause.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Oncologist:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Cancer. There are many different kinds of oncologists, such as those who specialize in surgery, medicine or radiation. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ophthalmologist:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li>Eye care and vision conditions.
