{"id":1279,"date":"2021-08-20T04:54:08","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T04:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ultimatehealthreport.com\/proposed-bill-brings-justice-to-war-on-drugs-victims\/"},"modified":"2021-08-20T04:54:08","modified_gmt":"2021-08-20T04:54:08","slug":"proposed-bill-brings-justice-to-war-on-drugs-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ultimatehealthreport.com\/proposed-bill-brings-justice-to-war-on-drugs-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposed Bill Brings Justice to War on Drugs Victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\t\t<!-- END .ss-inline-share-wrapper --><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-legislation\"><strong>Legislation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The highly-anticipated proposed Senate bill that would federally legalize marijuana was publicly announced on\u00a0 July 14, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act is a proposed bill in the United States Congress to recognize legalization of cannabis by the states.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The authors are Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York), Senator Cory Booker (D-New Jersey), and Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Referred to as the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, it removes marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) Schedule 1 designation, and allows states autonomy to determine their own cannabis laws, similar to the way alcohol is federally regulated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Revenue generated by federal taxes would support restorative justice to victims of the war on drugs, and public health and safety research, according to National Law Review.<\/p>\n<p>Kim Rivers, CEO of retail cannabis chain Trulieve (CSE: TRUL, OTC: TCNNF) supports the measure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrulieve is supportive of the work being done and put forth in the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act draft. This is a comprehensive and balanced proposal that will address the social issues that have plagued communities disproportionately affected by the War on Drugs as well as provide the platform to remove the hindrances and uncertainties holding back the industry and allow it to thrive. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the stigma is removed, we will see an acceleration of job creation and states will have the economic engine needed to capitalize and participate in the industry\u2019s growth.
