We love sausage and peppers in my house, and these foil packets kick it up a notch flavor-wise with marinara and cheese. Foil packet dinners are so easy for weeknight cooking or camping. I partnered with Reynolds Wrap to make these foil packets with their Reynolds Wrap\u00ae Non-Stick Foil. Non-stick foil is perfect for cooking cheesy or sticky food as it doesn\u2019t stick, and it makes cleanup a breeze so you get more time with family. To make this easy dinner, I put the onions and peppers in the foil packets with some marinara sauce and let them cook on the grill until tender. When they\u2019re done, add the sausage to the grill and cook, then slice and add to the foil packets with the onions and peppers. Add the cheese to the open packets and let it melt for a few minutes. It comes out saucy and cheesy and so delish!<\/p>\n
How can I tell which side of the non-stick foil to use?<\/h2>\n The non-stick side has a dull or flat finish. To help indicate which side is non- stick, Reynolds Wrap\u00ae Non-Stick Foil has the words \u201cNON-STICK Side\u201d imprinted so make sure you use this side for this recipe or anything cheesy and sticky you\u2019re making.<\/p>\n
How To Make A Foil Packet<\/h2>\n\nTear off an 18\u201d sheet of foil.<\/li>\n With the foil dull side facing up, center the food on the foil sheet.<\/li>\n Bring up the long sides of the foil, so the ends meet over the food.<\/li>\n Double fold the ends, leaving room for heat to circulate inside.<\/li>\n Double fold the two short ends to seal the packet.<\/li>\n Bake or grill as instructed.<\/li>\n Note:<\/strong> Be very careful handling as the packet will be extremely hot. Please use gloves or tongs to slide packets from the grill onto a plate or tray.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nWhat to Serve with Sausage and Peppers<\/h2>\n You can eat these Italian sausage foil packets on their own or serve them with some crusty bread and a salad. They\u2019d also be great with served on a hoagie roll to make a sandwich.<\/p>\n
Variations:<\/h2>\n\nSwap Italian chicken sausage for turkey sausage. Or make it hot and use spicy sausage if you wish.<\/li>\n Use any color bell peppers that you prefer or a mix for a more colorful dish.<\/li>\n If you don\u2019t have a grill, bake the peppers and onions in the foil packet in the oven at 400 degrees then broil the sausage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

\nReynolds Wrap\u00ae Non-Stick Foil<\/span><\/li>\n4<\/span> sweet or spicy Italian chicken sausage links<\/span>, about 2 3\/4 oz each<\/span><\/li>\n2<\/span> medium onions<\/span>, sliced into 1\/4 inch strips<\/span><\/li>\n2<\/span> red bell peppers<\/span>, sliced into 1\/4 inch strips<\/span><\/li>\n1\/2<\/span> tablespoon<\/span> extra virgin olive oil<\/span><\/li>\n3\/4<\/span> cup<\/span> marinara sauce<\/span>, (I like spicy Arrabbiata sauce)<\/span><\/li>\n1\/2<\/span> cup<\/span> shredded part-skim mozzarella<\/span><\/li>\n3\/4<\/span> teaspoon<\/span> kosher salt<\/span><\/li>\nfresh black pepper<\/span>, to taste<\/span><\/li>\ncrusty bread<\/span>, optional for serving<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n\nPreheat the grill on high heat on one half and medium-low on the other.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
\nIn a large bowl combine the onions, pepper, olive oil, salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

Make foil packets:<\/h4>\n\n\nTear off 4 12 x 18\u201d sheets of Reynolds Wrap\u00ae Non-Stick Foil.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n\nDivide the onions and peppers between 4 pieces of foil, with the dull side facing up. Top with 3 tablespoons marinara.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n\nBring up the long sides of the foil, so the ends meet over the food.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
\nDouble fold the ends, leaving room for heat to circulate inside. Double fold the two short ends to seal the packet tight, so no steam escapes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
\nPlace the foil packets on the side of the grill with the medium-low heat. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 25 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
\nWhen ready, set aside and add the sausage to the medium-low side. At this point you can shut off the high side of the grill.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
\nCook sausage, 6 to 8 minutes turning often until cooked through in the center and place on a cutting board.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
\nOpen the foil packets, slice the sausage and add to the foil packets, top each with 2 tablespoons cheese and keep open. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n\nCover grill and leave until cheese melts, about 5 minutes. Serve with bread, if desired.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
