What\u2019s your favorite Woody Harrelson performance? He kept audiences on the edge of their seats in Natural Born Killers<\/em> and Zombieland<\/em>, he won the hearts of millions on Cheers<\/em> and True Detective<\/em>, and now the iconic actor is bringing even more excitement to Hollywood. Last Friday, Harrelson opened the doors on The Woods, his new West Hollywood cannabis dispensary.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe artfully-designed dispensary is co-founded by comedian Bill Maher, ERBA founders Devon Wheeler and Jay Handal, Schoos Design CEO Michael Berman, and Creative Director Thomas Schoos.<\/p>\n

The Woods Is Born<\/h3>\n The location was an artists\u2019 studio for designer Thomas Schoos when Harrelson and Wheeler first visited years ago. It was there they decided the time was right for their idea to take shape and that Schoos would design the space to fit their vision.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As eager attendees entered the newly opened space, they were greeted by warm, natural colors and high-end finishes well-suited to West Hollywood\u2019s culture. \u201cOur space is made of two distinct halves,\u201d Schoos said.\u00a0<\/p>\nGuests attend \u2018The Woods\u2019 Opening Day on May 13, 2022 in West Hollywood, California. Each half appeals to somewhat different crowds looking for the same good time,\u201d Schoos added.<\/p>\n
The Woods is emphasizing sungrown, organic flower and a return to the \u201clegacy roots\u201d of cannabis culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The intent was reportedly to \u201cbridge the gap\u201d between the community, the dispensary, and the individuals who protect it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is essentially to return the legacy operators\u2019 work to the forefront before it gets washed out by corporations. The Woods is all about getting back to basics with nature and cannabis,\u201d Wheeler said.<\/p>\n
Woody Wins a Willie for Advocacy<\/h3>\n The same weekend Harrelson opened his dispensary, he was honored with the \u201cWillie Nelson\u201d award for a lifetime of cannabis advocacy at the Emerald Cup Awards.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Harrelson advocated for the plant long before California legalized cannabis. He\u2019s openly endorsed the healing properties of the herb for years. He famously protested cannabis criminalization by illegally planting hemp seeds in 1996.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Harrelson is also a proponent of regenerative farming practices, which will be reflected in the products offered at The Woods dispensary.<\/p>\n
Upon accepting the award, Harrelson reportedly said he hadn\u2019t smoked cannabis in a long time, at least since 4:20 that afternoon.<\/p>\n
